The Animation Guys (TAG) is one of London’s most innovative animation and video production studios. TAG helps brands tell stories that resonate with their audiences, thoughtfully and effectively.
Whether it’s 3D-animated commercials, stop-motion tutorials, 2D Instagram videos or anything else, The Animation Guys are the master storytellers. This small but talented team of animators and motion graphics designers have worked with clients as diverse as Coca-Cola, Absolut and the singer Jason Derulo.
March worked with TAG on a couple of joint projects, so when they decided they needed a new corporate website, we were the first people they called.
TAG’s founder, Jamien Middleton, wanted a new corporate website that would inject new life into the brand – 3 years old at the time.
Jamien wanted something that would be simple for visitors to navigate around and find out about TAG’s services, with testimonials and case studies. He also wanted something that could support different types of content, including text and video. Finally, it had to be able to stimulate inbound marketing – a lead generation machine, not just a website.
We got straight to work.
The existing TAG site was built on WordPress, which was great news for us. It meant that we could easily migrate across anything we wanted to keep. Everything else, we would build from scratch.
We used a flexible layout manager to create custom layouts for each of the core page templates. Then, we built a prototype of the website, with interactive wireframes allowing the client to see each section and the content that would live there.
The Animation Guys loved our prototype, so it was time to build the real thing. We created the new website to be as rich and engaging as possible, with master copywriter Jacob Denno supplying the text for the main service pages.
We also integrated the site with TAG’s CRM platform to help with inbound marketing. The integration connected the new site with TAG’s email marketing solution. This meant newsletter subscribers coming through the site would be automatically verified and stored in the correct marketing lists, saving time for TAG’s marketing team.
Since launching in March 2018, The Animation Guys’ new website has made a big difference to the business.
In the month following the launch, the site received:
- 110% more users.
- 116% more in new users.
- 131% more sessions.
- 128% more pageviews.
- 6% lower bounce rate.
Organic search results improved by 79% year-on-year and 64% compared to the month before the launch.
The Animation Guys also initiated their first banner advertising campaign using two new landing pages we built into the Content Management System.
The new website rejuvenated The Animation Guys’ brand, delivering a fresh and contemporary platform to showcase the team’s great work. It also enabled more effective online marketing activity, helping grow the business further.
March are great communicators. From their work to the way they guide you through their process. Nearly everyone I meet who I ask 'What was it like doing your website?' responds with a snarl or a comment like 'Ergh, don't ask'.
