Festival of Media celebrates and amplifies the best media campaigns in the world and sets global benchmarks for the industry to aspire to.

Since its launch in 2007, Festival of Media has become one of the world’s premier platforms for recognising excellence in the media. It consistently identifies industry insights and parameters, establishing itself as a leading curator of awards programmes globally.

The
Challenge

Although Festival of Media’s awards programmes are world-renowned, its website did not meet the same high standard.

The design was outdated and the colours and typography did not represent its offline branding. The marketing team also struggled to keep the content updated.

The challenge was to design a new website that positioned Festival of Media as an industry leader. The new site needed to be visually engaging, offering a strong user experience that encouraged brands to register for Festival of Media’s award programmes. Additionally, it had to allow the marketing team to manage content collectively and efficiently.

The Solution

March began by conducting user surveys and uncovering how customers and admins interacted with the Festival of Media website.

The feedback revealed two main issues: Firstly, the user experience was convoluted, often frustrating users due to inconsistent navigational structures across different pages. Secondly, the data points on the site were not dynamic, which duplicated workloads for the marketing team when they were making changes or adding content. Additionally, only one admin could update the website at any given time.

March proposed a new Information Architecture that transformed static content such as ‘Award Winners’ into dynamic datasets.

By replacing static, single-page data, the new structure simplified site management and enabled multiple editors to collaborate simultaneously. Each piece of content now possessed its own URL, facilitating deep linking and enhancing Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

The new Festival of Media website designs embraced their offline branding by using a unique accent colour for each of its six award programs, reinforcing the brand’s visual identity.

"From the first conversation to the day the new website launched the process with March Branding was brilliant. No issue was too big to solve and most importantly the team immersed itself in our industry and understood our needs. I would highly recommend them."

The Results

March completely rebuilt the Festival of Media website from the ground up, enhancing usability, content management, and impact while reducing overhead.

The revised user journeys for the top-level content and each individual award programme provided quicker access to key content such as entry information, award categories and winners’ press kits.

The marketing team now has a powerful tool to effectively grow their business and online presence, along with a scalable platform that can expand alongside this growth.

The website was featured on a number of showcase websites including Awwwards for its strong user experience and intuitive user interface design.
