Anna Spiro is one of the world’s most inventive interior designers, whose distinctive style and approach gained international acclaim with her redesign of the boutique hotel Halcyon House.

Since then, Anna has expanded her ventures, launching an online store selling bespoke products and textiles, and writing two best-selling books.

The
Challenge

Anna sought March’s expertise to redesign Spiro Store and improve its functionality, particularly to allow her to sell fabrics and wallpapers, and to fulfil orders internationally.

Her existing website was limited in its capability and did not allow Anna to sell outside of her native Australia, leaving the brand unable to scale. The goal was to create a new brand identity and platform that would enable Anna to reach an international audience.

The Brand

Through our brand discovery workshop, March uncovered the values, vision, and persona of Spiro Store.

Blending tradition with a bold, unexpected style, the brand made exceptional design more accessible, reflected in its updated visual identity.

The brand ident was formed from a custom serif typeface to represent its traditional roots, juxtaposed against an unconventional “i” to reflect the brand’s idiosyncratic character.

March paired a timeless serif display font with a geometric sans serif body font to enhance visual appeal.

The Website

An initial discovery phase highlighted the need to restructure the shop’s inventory and product grouping on the website.

March produced a new taxonomy document, grouping products using understandable terms for website visitors.

The clean and timeless design includes functional elements complemented by appealing photos of Anna’s products and interiors, offering a luxurious digital experience.

March also integrated custom e-commerce solutions into the Shopify platform, allowing for various product scenarios, including fabric by the metre, fabric samples, and bespoke product quotations.

Integration with Anna’s email marketing system and Instagram ensured a cohesive brand experience across her product range.
