Flora Soames is one of the UK’s most prominent figures in interior design. Regularly featured in House & Garden’s Top 100 interior designers, Flora has a discerning eye and an instinct for blending old and new, shaped by a lifelong passion for collecting furniture, textiles, and accessories.

Challenge
March has supported Flora since the inception of her interior design practice in 2015.
In 2019, Flora expanded her business to encompass a range of bespoke products including fabrics, wallpapers, lampshades, cushions, and furniture.
March’s goal was to establish an online presence to showcase Flora’s interiors and products with equal prominence. The new e-commerce platform needed to allow customers to order fabric and wallpaper samples, as well as request quotations for bespoke items.
With the expectation of continual growth in product ranges, the site had to adapt to new and expanded collections in the future.
The Solution
In an initial discovery phase, March defined Flora’s business strategy, target audience, and the functional requirements of the site to support her brand’s expansion.
By assessing Flora’s inventory, March created an effective taxonomy to classify her products and inform the website’s structure. This was presented as information architecture documents that were then translated into low-fidelity wireframes.
March developed the website using WordPress, integrating WooCommerce to provide the necessary e-commerce functionality.
With a significant portion of Flora’s audience accessing the site via mobile devices, it was important to ensure a fluid, mobile-responsive experience.
The
Results
Flora and her team were thrilled with their new website, which launched in time for several key press events.
March’s solution has evolved alongside Flora’s interior practice. Since the launch of her new e-commerce platform, her products and website have garnered prominent features in publications such as House & Garden, The Sunday Times, and Tatler. The website seamlessly incorporates Flora’s new collections as they are introduced, ensuring a smooth experience for both customers and website managers.
